Early Stage Researcher 15 at VW
Constrained shape optimisation for automotive design
Note: This position has been filled.
While computational methods for design optimisation are being routinely used in the automotive industry already today, they lack a seamless integration into the established process chains. The role of this project is therefore central to IODA in that she/he combines and industrialises the optimisation modules developed in WPs 2,3,4 and 5 into an integral loop for constrained design optimisation of automotive parts. This requires a close collaboration with ESRs 1, 2, 4 and 8. The Research Fellow on this project will carry out comparative studies of the different methods based on the validation test suite of IODA.
Objectives:
- M6-M12: CAD parameter sensitivities 1 (WP4): Adoption and integration into workflows (WP6) of finite differences (QUB)
- M12-M18: Constrained NURBS-based parametrisation: Adoption and integration into workflows (WP6) of NURBS-module from QMUL, ESR1 (WP4) and of SQP-algorithms from NTUA, ESR8 (WP5)
- M18-M24: CAD-free parameterization (WP2): Adoption and workflow integration of RBF-Morphing from NTUA, ESR8 and Harmonic Coordinates from ENGYS, ESR4
- M24-M30: CAD parameter sensitivities 2 (WP4): Adoption and workflow integration of the differentiated OCCT (QMUL, ESR2)
- M30-M40: Completion of optimisation loop (WP6) by integrating the Return-to-CAD-module from WP3, comparative evaluation on selected test cases (WP1)
